Its more affordable than a Peloton or NordicTrack, and ideal if you like to customize your spin workout with your choice of music and resistance. The best part is that it folds up and can be wheeled away to store in a closet or out of the public eye.
Promising review: This is so easy to move around the house, I had it in several rooms for different scenery so I wouldn’t get bored doing my exercises. This was a perfect addition to my physical therapy after knee replacement. Now that it is getting colder outside, I am using it for regular exercise. Love it!! Sherry L. Bauer

Best Quality: Sunny Health & Fitness Exercise Cycling Bike
A 49-pound flywheel offers a substantial amount of resistance in this exercise bike from Sunny Health & Fitness, which is perfect for those who like to switch from intense climbs to fast sprints during their rides. Although it doesn’t come with a tablet holder or LCD stat screen, many shoppers say they’ve had no problem incorporating these small add-ons themselves, especially considering the bike’s budget-friendly price: “For the cost I am very happy with my purchase,” wrote one.
Others echo this satisfaction. “This cycle is built like a tank. Truly heavy-duty components,” . “Although the cycle lacks an adjustment for the handlebar distance, I didn’t miss it at all. The design of the handlebars and the seat distance adjustments allowed me to put my hands exactly where I needed them. I can wholeheartedly recommend this spin bike.”

Is There A Cheaper Alternative To Peloton
While Peloton had some significant price drops earlier this year, permanent prices on its flagship products are back up, likely due to company instability. The OG bike originally sat at $2,195, dropped down to $1,895, to $1,495, and finally down to $1,195, but now is back up at $1,445.
Similarly, the Bike+ went from $2,495, down to $1,995, and back up to $2,495 since it’s 2020 release. These prices, of course, are on top of the monthly membership fee that was hiked up to $44/month as of June 1, 2022.
Peloton’s connected fitness equipment was more worth it when the prices were lower earlier this year, but now that they’re back up, there are way more stationary bikes on the market than just Peloton, meaning there’s pretty much one for every budget.
When shopping for an indoor bike, decide what type of cycling experience you want. Are you looking for a studio-style bike with an attached screen? Do you want to be able to stream interactive workouts directly to your bike? Or are you looking for something cheaper that can use your own device for workout streaming? The driving question here is which app or site you want to get your workouts from, or if you just want a bike to pedal indoors while watching TV. Bikes without connected monitors or membership-based fitness programs tend to be hundreds of dollars cheaper than those with flashy screens.

Peloton Bike Review: Leaderboard
The leaderboard is one of my favorite parts about live classes. When taking a live class, you can see who else is taking the ride with you. Your name rises and falls on the leaderboard based on your output, cadence and resistance. Once the class is finished, you will get an overall ranking to see how you did compared to other riders. Its great motivation for those who like to compete.
Just as motivating are the shout-outs given by the instructors during live classes. You can get recognized for such things as your birthday, Century rides , 200, 300+ rides, specific hashtags, or simply if youre crushing it on the leaderboard.
One of the features of the leaderboard is being able to give or receive a virtual high-5 from another user taking the class at the same time as you. Some find this feature engaging whereas others find it annoying and ignore it.
Note that the leaderboard with the instructors is just as engaging if you are taking a live floor workout however, it does not rank you in comparison to other users like the bike does.
After youve completed your 100th workout, you may receive a free commemorative Century Club shirt from Peloton to honor your accomplishment.

What Type Of Resistance Is Best
The two main resistance types for indoor cycling bikes are friction and magnetic resistance. Bikes with friction resistance use felt pads that compress the flywheel of your bike when the resistance is adjusted. Magnetic drive cycles, on the other hand, use strong magnets on the flywheel to create the sensation of heavier or lighter resistance.
Friction bikes tend to be cheaper, but since the felt pads need to be replaced when they wear out, they’ll bring a recurring cost. A cycle with a magnetic drive will be much quieter than one with a friction resistance system, and basically won’t need any maintenance over its life span â but the upfront cost might be more.

A Large Screen And Fitness Apps Offer An Immersive Experience
Best for: Offering an immersive experience | Resistance: Magnetic, 100 levels | Footprint: 24 x 60 inches | Maximum user weight: 325 pounds
Another great Peloton alternative, this impressive home bike from Bowflex is our pick for the best exercise bike with a screen for two reasons: the bike comes packed with many features, and some of these work well with the large display.
Lets start with the bike, which sets itself apart from competitors thanks to feature slike Leaning Mode, an option that lets you lean into your movement as you ride, much like you would when taking a sharp turn riding a bike outdoors or swaying with the beat in a group class. This added movement allows you to engage your arms and core in a way other bikes cant, providing more of a full body workout. Other highlights of the bike include an adjustable seat and handlebars, 100 levels of magnetic resistance and versatile pedals that work with sneakers and toe cages or clip-in spin shoes.
Models are available with HD touchscreen consoles sized 16 or 22 inches and both come with the companys JRNY experience, a library of on-demand workouts that include trainer-led videos, virtual coaching and destination rides. Like its competitors in the connected-fitness space, Bowflex requires a monthly membership to JRNY with the purchase of its bike, which will run you $20 per month.

Sunny Health & Fitness Bike: Shipping And Returns
I was able to have the delivery guys put the large box in my garage until my husband returned home from a trip and could help me get the 113-pound bike into my second-floor office. Unlike Peloton and MYX Fitness, theres no white glove delivery service and setup that I could find, so if you live in an apartment buildingparticularly in a walk-up buildingthis might be tough to get up on your own.
We took the pieces out of the box and my husband carried the 49-pound flywheel and base. I was able to carry the rest of the pieces up myself. From there, it was pretty easy to follow the assembly directions to put the rest of the bike together. Id give yourself about 30 to 45 minutes to assemble I watched someone do it on YouTube while following along with the printed directions. If youve assembled IKEA furniture in the past you can probably handle this on your own.
If you order from Sunny Health & Fitness website, it offers free shipping on orders over $99, a 30-day money back guarantee, and the manufacturer warranty. Sunny will pay for return shipping if the reason for return was their error but if youre returning the bike within the 30-day time period because youre not satisfied with it, youll have to pay for the shipping and wont receive a refund for that portion. Sunny will refund your money if you bought it from their site but if you bought it from a third-party, like Amazon, you need to refer to their store refund policy.

Marcy Magnetic Recumbent Bike
The Marcy Magnetic Recumbent Bike is great for beginners, though it graduates with you as you start riding more and more too. The bike features a fully adjustable padded seat and a padded backrest that adds extra support and comfort. Both are filled with a high-density foam that provides just enough lift without letting you sink into the seat. Foam-covered handlebars at the side add extra comfort when riding, and offer a different challenge and experience than a traditional stand-up exercise bike.
The bike has a user-friendly LCD computer screen that tracks your speed, distance, time, total distance traveled and calories burned, while a tension knob offers eight different magnetic resistance levels. The addition of wheels makes it easy to move the bike into a corner or closet when not in use while the sturdy frame ensures that the wheels are the only things spinning during your workout.
Peloton Bike Review: Live Classes
Do you ever wonder what the hype is about the Peloton and why your friend is posting that she got a shoutout from Cody for her Century Ride class and what does that even mean? One of the leading reasons that separates Peloton from other at-home exercise bikes are the live classes it offers.
Each week, Peloton drops live classes, so you can plan out your exercises for the week. Riders have the option to Count Me In ahead of time and can add the class to their calendar. I use this feature a lot, because it makes me feel accountable to make time to take a live class.
The types of rides include the following:
- Hiit & Hills – Intervals mixed with power driven hills. The goal is to improve your power and test your overall fitness during this high-intensity ride.
- Low Impact Rides – A class spent primarily in the saddle to give your body a smooth ride while still working up a sweat. Anyone can take this ride, particularly those recovering from an injury.
- Power Zone Endurance Rides – Using your output, calculated based on how hard you are working by combining your cadence and resistance , train to build aerobic endurance with intervals in zones 2 and 3 out of the 7 zones.
- Sweat Steady Ride – This ride focuses on prolonged intervals.
- Intervals & Arms Ride – A class split into sections of cycling and light weight segments.
- Tabata – A form of the best HIIT workouts, Tabata rides are bursts of high effort to boost your heart rate to the max, followed by a recovery period. .
