Tools You Need To Hang Your Bike On The Ceiling
Installation of a ceiling-mounted bike rack is often simple and straightforward. To make things even smoother and easier, get ready your tools like a power-drill, or if you want to work your arms out even more get out a hand crank drill!
Youll want to avoid hanging on hollow parts of your roof, so its a good idea to have something like a DeWalt stud finder to help you find roof purlins or ceiling joists to find a solid anchoring point.
If you want to save space and hang a bike from the ceiling always have the essentials on standby too, like ruler/tape measure, screwdrivers, and wrenches.
Simple Houseware 5 Bike Stand
Style:Number of Bikes:REASONS TO BUY
The Simple Houseware 5 Bike Stand is a good option for storing/organizing up to 5 bikes. This freestanding floor rack has wheel cradles for 5 bikes, with an easily convertible design to adjust its capacity anywhere between 5 and 1. Since this rack sits on the floor, there is no need to drill into your walls, and loading bikes is as easy as rolling them into position in the wheel cradles/supports. This versatile rack can handle just about any size and style of bike and tires up to 3-inches wide. It’s also reasonably priced, and an affordable solution for storing all of the bikes in your household.
The Simple Houseware 5 Bike Stand works, but it is not without its faults. Our biggest gripe was that the wheel supports conflicted with the disc brake rotors on our mountain and gravel bikes, and they made contact with the drivetrain components and the frames/forks of most of the bikes we loaded into it. Bikes with very skinny tires also tended to tip to one side due to the 3-inch width of the supports. The side by side storage method may also result in some bike to bike contact in the rack. We found it to work best with strategic positioning and bikes of varying sizes. Lastly, this rack certainly helps to organize bikes, but they still take up a significant amount of floor space. Beyond those concerns, we feel this is certainly an affordable way to store every bike in your fleet.

Best Budget Bike Hook: Delta Dali Hinged Wall Mount Bike Rack Buy Now For 1799 From Merlin Cycles
The Delta Dali takes up less space and is often more convenient than the common fixed types. It is easy to load and has enough space for everything from deep carbon road wheels to wide mountain bike tyres.
Tester Matt writes: The hinge is what makes this Delta Bike Hook different to most, and I was really surprised how effective this small detail is. Best Way To Hang Bikes From Garage Ceiling
I have a dream.
My dream is to park my car in the garage.
I know its not World Peace or anything like that. But to me this is a big deal. I look at my car parked on the driveway and see how its gradually falling to pieces under the onslaught of wind, rain, ice, snow, and the occasional glimpse of the sun and have a burning desire to keep it safely protected in the garage.
Trouble is that the garage is full of stuff and one of the things that takes up most room in the space is our familys fleet of bikes. These are tricky to store because you want to easily take them out to use them, but when theyre packed away you want to free up some space.
Its a tough problem so I decided to do some research recently to work out what the best methods are for storing bikes in the garage and it turns out that there are some fantastic options for hanging them in the roof space. These free up floor space but allow you to easily get access to them when you need them. Ill take you through the alternatives in a moment and well look at the Pros and Cons of each along with the features to look out for.

Strongest Ceiling Mount Bike Rack
The best ceiling mount rack has to be the RAD Cycle. As mentioned earlier.
RAD is known for its credible product line and simple installation.
With this rack, they take their patented and innovative designs to the next level, featuring a flexible and fully adjustable hoist system.
You can align it either horizontally or parallel to ceiling joists, something that other ceiling racks are not able to do.
With a rust-proof, heavy-gauge aluminum build, this big boy can hold up to 75lbs without fraying thanks to its thick and patented ropes.
Innovative lock designs on bike hooks also prevent accidental release and secure your bike with every pull.
What’s The Best Way To Store An Ebike
Storing an ebike vertically is more difficult that a road bike because they are heavier, so harder to lift onto a hook. But, there are ways to hang an ebike that mean you don’t have to lift it at all.
With the right kind of hook you can get over the weight problem by keeping the rear wheel on the floor. You can just hold the brakes and step backwards, to bring the bike up onto its back wheel, then roll the bike up to the wall and hook the front wheel, without lifting the bike at all.
This works equally well on a single hook, as shown in the sequence below, but will work in exactly the same way with 3 hooks on a rack.

Hanging Bikes From The Garage Ceiling A Step
I found 3 options for hanging bikes from a garage ceiling, and you need to decide which option will suit your needs and garage layout best. The 3 options are:
- Hanging bikes from the garage ceiling using a single hook- is a good option for garage spaces where you can hang bikes in a vertical position. It is done in spaces where people have open spaces close to the wall but not much headroom.
- Hanging bikes from the garage ceiling using 2 hooks- is a good option for garage spaces that offers a good amount of headroom for easy hooking and unhooking of your bikes.
- Hanging bikes from the garage ceiling using a pulley system- is a good option when the garage ceiling is too high for easy hooking and unhooking of bikes.
Will Suspension Forks Be Ok If The Bike Is Stored In An Upright Position
Yes. Undoubtedly. In fact this is the best way to store any bike with suspension forks.
All suspension forks have stanchions that slide in and out of the fork legs . To make these movements super smooth, the fork legs are full of oil. To stop the oil spraying everywhere every time you compress the forks there is a rubber seal fitted at the top of the fork legs. This will have a foam seal fitted behind it to hold the oil against the stanchions.
When a bike is stored horizontally on the floor, the oil drains out of the foam seals. If left for a long time the seals dry out and shrink. This stops the forks working properly and can damage the stanchions. That can be expensive, especially with mountain bike forks that can cost £800 or more.
If the bike is stored vertically on the wall, the forks are tilted backwards. This means that the oil in the forks runs backwards and pools against the foam seals. This keeps the seals properly lubricated and stops them drying out.
Another benefit of some wall mounting bike racks is that there is space between the bikes to store lots of other gear. That’s a bit like even more ‘free space’ because it would otherwise be wasted, hidden behind the handlebars. GearHooks have a range of separate hooks for bike stands, track pumps, tools, spare wheels and other parts.

How To Choose The Right Bike Hook
The first, most important step you should take when deciding on a bike hook is to determine where and how youd like to store it within your garage.
Do you want to hang your bikes from the wall? How about from the ceiling? Do you want a pulley system that lifts and hoists your bike up to your ceiling so its up and out of the way?
There are many options to choose from to fit your garage organization system at large.
Other Ways To Hang Your Bikes
If a ceiling mount doesnt quite fit your taste, dont worry, there are other options by which you can store or hang your bike. If you have the room and only look for the means, then you can opt to either get a floor-mounted stand or a wall-mounted rack.
The real difference between those two is actually just the installation process and space-saving requirements.
