Brown Mountain Trail System

Brown Mountain OHV Trails – Dirtbike Group

Perfect for off-highway vehicles , the Brown Mountain area has trails spanning a total of 34 miles. Youre less likely to lose your way because of the signs installed in different sections. Riders can also buy a map with complete details so they can maximize their itinerary.

Most of the Brown Mountain system trails are ideal for all-terrain vehicles and trail bikes. Four-wheel-drive vehicles and Jeeps can also be used, but theyre only allowed in some areas.

Regardless of which type of vehicle youll use for off roading in NC, there are intermediate to difficult level trails to conquer. These more challenging locations are not recommended for groups with young children.

The Brown Mountain trail isnt just about the wilderness. It also offers picnic areas, restrooms, general stores, grocery stores, grills, and fire rings. Youll definitely need some breaks during your off-road adventure.

If youre planning to extend your ride for more than 24 hours, there are available campsites, which make the Brown Mountain location quite popular for visitors.

Be Prepared To Share Trails With Dirt Bikes

Lots of different trails at this park, but most are shared with bikes. Walkers go one direction and bikers go the other direction. The signs are very poor, and its easy to go the wrong way or simply get lost. Hard to figure out signage and stay on a particular trail. Park is kept clean and nicely cared for other than the signage issue.

Hickory’s Geitner Parker, one of the few to welcome nonwhite citizens, opens on the main channel of the Catawba River. The access is perfect for fishing, swimming, and tubing. Park facilities accommodate picnics and grilling.

Beautiful, quite park with easy access. This park is used mostly for walking, hiking, trail walking/running and mountain biking. Easy access trails in the woods for mountain biking with a variety of hills and there is a paved road for walking, running or bicycling. There is a fishing pier and a boat access. A covered picnic area, picnic tables and a gazebo with a view of Lake Hickory.

Love this park, which has an abundance of nice trails. Some are dirt, while others are paved. The trails are very poorly marked, making it difficult. Park is clean and well taken care of other than the signage issue.
