Our Take On The Ad6 Airdyne Bike
The Schwinn Airdyne AD6 is certainly an improvement over previous models, with enhanced features in all categories, so if wind resistance is something you are looking for, this is a very good choice.
The only thing that gives us pause is the warranty, which isn’t the best we’ve seen. As a comparison similarly priced Diamondback exercise bikes offer lifetime frame and brake.
An extended warranty might be a good idea if you do opt for the AD6, just to cover yourself in case anything happens down the road. Also look at the base AD2 model if you want to save some money, and for very heavy use consider the top of the line AD7 bike.
The Airdynes have been popular for years, so you can be confident in your purchase. Just read the reviews to make sure it’s the right bike for you.

Introducing The Schwinn Ad6 Airdyne Exercise Bike
DIMENSIONS: 49.7” x 25.7” x 50.9”SEAT: Extra-padded with an anatomic designSEAT-HEIGHT: Tested for users five feet tall and aboveWEIGHT CAPACITY: 300lbsRESISTANCE TYPE: Wind resistance via the frictionless fanDISPLAY TYPE: High-resolution LCDNUMBER OF PROGRAMS: 6
This exercise bike offers an unlimited amount of resistance due to its frictionless fan.
Instead of needing to set a resistance level, as you would on most stationary bikes, you just need to pedal faster. The wind resistance can help people with arthritic knees to avoid injuries.
Despite having a big fan for a wheel, the bike has a compact design so you can store it in a large closet or move it to another part of your room when it’s not in use. The total weight of the bike is only 115 pounds, so with the transport wheels, it is easy to move.
It has a sturdy frame made from metal, and there are four levelers to keep it stable while you’re exercising. The bike also features a thickly padded seat to make riding it more comfortable. The seat also has an anatomic design, which makes it comfortable for either men or women to sit on while exercising.
The seat height is adjustable, and Schwinn tests the height for people who are at least five feet tall. Someone who is under five feet may have problems reaching the handlebars, but they do move, so once they are in hand, shorter users should be able to work out comfortably.
The large console displays readings for:
- Time
- Calories burned.
- Pulse

The Schwinn Ad6 Airdyne Exercise Bike Basics
While this bike does have a data monitor, it does not have built in training programs. You can view all your data at once including speed, distance, time, calories, pulse and watts. There is also a RevMeter at the top of the screen, which is useful if youre interval training.
The AD6 is easy to use and the uncovered fan wheel adds wind resistance to your workout. The padded seat is vertically adjustable to suit your height and reach, while the padded grips on the handlebars allow you to comfortably exercise your arms as you rest your feet or pedal. There is also a water bottle holder attached to the frame, so you can stay hydrated throughout your workout.
How Do You Exercise On The Schwinn Airdyne Bike

There is nothing complex about using the Schwinn Airdyne exercise bike. There are pedals for your feet and handles for your arms which are connected. As you pedal the bicycle the handles move forward and backwards.
You can either choose to pull and push the handles with both your arms as you pedal, just pedal without pulling and pushing the handles, or just pull and push the handles for an upper body workout as you rest your feet on the pegs.
As stated in the introduction, the harder you pedal and push-pull, the harder the resistance becomes. It is up to you to adjust your intervals based on the time, distance, workload level, calories burned, calories per hour, heart rate, and RPM which are provided by the computer readout panel on the Airdyne Bike.
Since you can use both upper and lower body push-pull muscle groups at the same time, exercising on the Airdyne bike properly can cut the time you spend performing cardio so you can either exercise less or exercise the same as with many other cardio machines and get the same results.

The Schwinn Ad6 Airdyne Exercise Bike

The Schwinn Ad6 Airdyne Exercise Bike An In
The AD6 Airdyne exercise bike is Schwinns mid-range fan bike. In their lineup of fan bikes, it comes right smack dab in the middle between the AD2 and the AD7.
Fan bikes are awesome and I love the Schwinn brand, so it should be a no-brainer that the AD6 would be the perfect combination, right?
Well, not necessarily. Just because a name brand is known for quality work, it doesnt automatically mean everything they touch is gold.
Especially in situation like this, where the same brand is offering three different fan bikes. Is there actually enough difference between the models to make it worth paying more? Or could you do just fine with the cheaper version and save yourself a little cash?
I think its important to take a close look at what the AD6 Airdyne has to offer and then see whether or not it warrants the asking price.
Thats exactly what this review is aiming to do. After reading this, I hope you have a better idea of whether or not this exercise bike is right for you.
Before we get into the meat of the review, a quick word on airdyne.
Who Is The Schwinn Ad6 Airdyne Exercise Bike Best For
The AD6 is a great option for those who are looking for moderate cardio workouts at home, particularly if you dont have the space for a home gym. The transport wheels and compact storage design allows you to easily move the bike into a closet or corner of a room when not in use.
Additionally, the AD6 is a solid bike that can accommodate users up to 300 pounds. So, if you are on the heavier side, this is a budget friendly exercise bike that you should be able to comfortably use.
However, if youre looking for an exercise bike with pre-programmed workouts and a sophisticated console that allows you to download your workout data, this is not the right choice for you.

Where Can I Buy The Schwinn Airdyne Bike
If youre looking for a new Airdyne exercise bike, you can find them on numerous fitness equipment vendors online for prices which are often below retail price.
However, one of the best places to pick up a Airdyne Bike is at a fitness equipment convention. If you happen to find one is coming to your local area, you are likely to get a really good price there.
But while conventions are almost always one of the best places to buy discounted fitness equipment, this option isnt exactly a practical one for most of us.
For most of you, online is going to be your go to place to purchase an Airdyne. Thankfully all popular models including the Schwinn Airdyne Bike AD PRO, AD6, and AD2 are available from most online vendors. Some vendors continue to offer the Airdyne AD4 and Evo Comp as well.

What We Dont Like
As nice as the Schwinn AD6 Airdyne Exercise Bike is, it does have some flaws. The main flaw is probably the LCD.
While it displays the metrics in large numbers, the LCD screen is not backlit. It is easy to read when there is plenty of light, but, if you’re working out at night and the lights in the room are dim, the readout can be difficult to see.
Although the transport wheels work well on hard surfaces, the bike can be difficult to move over carpets with medium or high piles.
