Specialized Launch All New Sirrus X ‘grammuter’ Bike For 2020 With Wider Tyres New Geometry And 1x Gearing
Like the standard Sirrus, the Sirrus X is unisex: “specifically designed as a shared design for Fitness riders”, say Specialized. Rather than just taking the Sirrus, sticking some slightly bigger tyres on and changed the name, the Sirrus X also has a slightly different geometry, with a reach that is 10mm shorter and 15mm of extra stack.
Sirrus X 2.0 and 3.0 have 42mm tyres, while the higher end 4.0 and 5.0 drop down to 38mm because the addition of Future Shock suspension negates the need for very wide tyres to add comfort the top-end Sirrus 5.0 is the only model that is set up for tubeless tyres.
All Sirrus X bikes have a single chainring for simplicity, and include eyelets at the dropouts and fork for mudguard mounting. Mounts for racks differ depending on the model.
There are also new standard Sirrus models for 2020, starting with the Sirrus 1.0 with an alloy frame and rim brakes, and going all the way up to the £1,999 Sirrus 6.0 with a carbon frame and fork, Future Shock and Shimano 105 shifting – all have either triple or 2x chainring set-ups as opposed to 1x on the Sirrus X models.
Models and prices of all Sirrus and Sirrus X bikes coming into the UK are as follows:
Sirrus X 5.0: £1,599Sirrus X 2.0 Step-through: £549
Sirrus 6.0: £1,999Sirrus 2.0 Step-through: £549Sirrus 1.0: £449

Which Are The Best Brakes
There are three types of brakes found on most hybrid sports bikes
Rim brakes are powerful in the dry but are significantly less powerful in the wet.
Mechanical disc brakes are powerful in all weather conditions. This makes disc brakes ideal for winter cycling as well as off-roading.
Hydraulic disc brakes are the most powerful in all weather conditions, and also offer the best braking precision.
Specialized Sirrus X 20 Disc Hybrid Bike
Blurring the lines between commuter and MTB, the Specialized Sirrus X 2.0 Disc Hybrid Bike combines on-road efficiency with the ability to enjoy a bit of light off-roading. The wide, grippy Pathfinder Sport 700x42mm tyres and Promax F1 hydraulic disc brakes encourage exploration away from the smooth tarmac whilst the rack/mudguards mounts and 8-speed MicroSHIFT ensure that daily use for commuting or shopping is equally well catered for. Ergonomic Specialized Body Geometry touchpoints mean that every journey is comfortable from start to finish.

What Gearing Options Are There
Most hybrid sports bikes offer a wide range of gears for taking on a variety of terrain. Its not all about the number of gears though. This is because fewer gears on the front, combined with a wide range rear cassette are much easier to use, but still give you the same wide range of gears. As you go up the price points shifting gets easier with more cogs on the rear cassette and fewer front chainrings.
Hub gears are another option and offer a good spread of gears that require less maintenance to keep them running sweetly, especially when combined with a belt drive.
Entry level hybrid bikes will have a triple chainset with a seven or eight speed cassette.
Mid-level hybrid bikes will have either a double or triple chainset with a nine or ten-speed cassette. You will also find eight-speed hub gears at this level.
High-end hybrid bikes with a rigid fork will often feature a compact double road bike chainset combined with a nine, ten or eleven speed cassette. Some suspension fork hybrid bikrd will have a single front chainring combined with a very wide range ten or eleven-speed cassette. Eleven-speed hub gears are also popular at this level.

‘your One And Only Bike’: Specialized Launches All
New Sirrus X is not ‘just’ an urban commuter specialist
Specialized has expanded its ever popular Sirrus range of bikes to help push it far beyond its original, urban commuter user base with the launch of the new Specialized Sirrus X.
Boasting the ability to take the performance of the Sirrus and push it out of its town and tarmac comfort zone, Specialized are pushing this new Sirrus X as being possibly the one bike to do-it-all.
What We Like
The Sirrus models are touted as fitness-hybrid bikes so that riders can take them on the road, as well as commute in the city. The tall stem allows the rider to be upright, in a more comfortable position. It makes their bikes good for introducing people to the sport. To see the best budget hybrid bike visit here.
The frames are lightweight, which means less fatigue for the rider when they go on long rides. The tires are thick so that they can take some abuse on city streets. The fitness geometry of these bikes and the flat handlebars helps make it more responsive, which is important in the city.
The more expensive models do better on the road because of the lightweight carbon frames and the racing gears. The price range for the bikes, $450 to $1500 ensures that there is a Sirrus bike for every serious rider, whether they use the bike for their fitness routine or casual rides with the family.
